North Houston’s Most Popular: 17 Neighborhoods Trending Now
There are hundreds of North Houston neighborhoods and subdivisions, each with their own unique personality and amenities.

A master-planned community in Montgomery, Woodforest offers a slew of new and recent home options, and with dozens of builders still developing the area, there’s still the option for a ground-up build as well. The neighborhood boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including a tennis and aquatics center, a splash pad, the Woodforest Golf Club and highly rated Conroe ISD schools.
This Conroe community has it all: good schools, lots of local amenities and plenty of real estate options. Home to the River Plantation Country Club and Golf Course, it’s the perfect place for an avid golfer. The neighborhood also offers easy access to nearby Lake Conroe, for fun in the sun, and The Woodlands, a community rife with shopping, dining, and cultural opportunities.
Located on the Northwest side of town in Magnolia, Decker Oaks Estates is a gated community offering quality real estate, a golf course, several parks and highly rated Tomball ISD schools. The neighborhood boasts a wide array of housing options, ranging from brand new (or still being built) to about 25 years old.
One of The Woodlands’ biggest and most popular “villages,” the Village of Alden Bridge has it all: great Conroe ISD schools; easy access to the city’s shopping and dining; and several parks, pools, and ponds. Many homes in the area were built in the mid-1990s, though some builders are still developing in the community.
Another popular spot in The Woodlands, Cochran’s Crossing is one of the city’s oldest and longest-standing communities. Real estate options run the gamut, from affordable $250,000 properties to larger estates in the million-dollar range. Amenities abound, too. The neighborhood offers highly rated Conroe ISD schools and is home to both The Woodland Country Club and the Palmer Golf Course.
A Tomball favorite, the Villages of Northpointe is a master-planned community offering tons of recreational options, as well as a playground and various social groups. Real estate in the area is fairly new, and several builders are still developing the area. The neighborhood boasts highly rated Tomball ISD schools and is just minutes down the road from The Woodlands.
Located in Cypress, this master-planned community is one of North Houston’s newest. Offering a cutting-edge community center, miles of trails, parks and green spaces, and top-notch schools via Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, it’s a great place to raise a family. The community even boasts a treehouse park and a number of annual events.
Another popular Cypress community, Fairfield offers a plethora of amenities and a wide range of real estate options to boot. The neighborhood boasts a 20-acre sports park, eight lakes, six pools and a recreation center and is home to the Houston Premium Outlets. Housing options run the gamut, ranging from 1980s-era to brand new.
Tomball’s Wildwood at Northpointe is within minutes of various parks, well-known golf courses, and the popular Old Town Tomball.
With a serene, tree-lined appeal, this neighborhood attracts those that value community. With many common areas, lakes, trails, and an expertly maintained pool, clubhouse, and park, residents in Wildwood at Northpointe have so much to fall in love with. Students in the area attend highly rated Tomball ISD schools, with two elementary schools right in the neighborhood.
Gleannloch is one of Spring’s newest and most popular master-planned communities. Located on the Northwest side of town, it offers top-notch Klein ISD schools, several recreational facilities and a wide variety of real estate options. The community is also home to the Gleannloch Pines Golf Club and is just a short drive from nearby The Woodlands.
Another Spring hotspot, Imperial Oaks is rife with recreational options, boasting miles of trails, multiple community centers and several parks, ponds and nature preserves. Homes in the area were largely built in the mid- to late-2000s, though a number of builders are still developing the community. The neighborhood is served by Conroe ISD and offers highly rated educational options.
Atascocita
Located in Northeast Houston, Atascocita is Humble’s hottest place to put down roots. Offering top-rated Humble ISD schools and real estate options both new and old, the community has a little something for everyone. The neighborhood is also home to the Atascocita Country Club, the Walden on Lake Houston Golf and Country Club and the Lindsay Lyons Park and Sports Complex.
If Katy’s on your radar, you’ll find no better community than Bear Creek. With a wide array of housing options, top-notch Katy ISD schools and dozens of recreational options, it’s one of the city’s most popular spots for families. The neighborhood boasts several pools, a number of tennis courts and a park, as well as easy access to Katy Mills Mall and Typhoon Texas Waterpark.
For a more centralized location, Spring Shadows is your answer. Located in Spring Branch, it’s the perfect spot for Energy Corridor employees and their families. Boasting historic real estate and highly rated Spring Branch ISD schools, the community offers all you need to put down roots.
Oak Forest
If easy access to downtown is a priority, consider the Northside community of Oak Forest. The neighborhood offers beautiful, historic real estate, great Houston ISD schools and instant access to the big city. Oak Forest also boasts a library, community center, and YMCA.
Located in Aldine just Northwest of Houston, Inwood Forest is one of the city’s most affordable and conveniently located neighborhoods. Just a few minutes from the George Bush Airport and boasting a wide variety of historic properties, it’s a top choice for regular business travelers or airline employees.
Houston Heights
It doesn’t get more popular than The Heights. Home to some of the city’s top dining options, music venues and cultural spots, it’s a favorite among Houstonians — both for living and just visiting. The neighborhood offers easy access to downtown, great schools via Houston ISD and some of the most beautiful, historic real estate in all of Houston.
